Jorn ten Hoopen (1986) is a musician, composer and producer from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He studied guitar at the Conservatory of Rotterdam, with lessons in jazz, pop and Brazilian music. Since graduating in 2009 he has been a full-time musician, putting all of his time and energy towards creating new music as well as learning about almost every kind of existing music he can lay his hands on.
As a performer Jorn has played guitar in many different projects, such as Ntjam Rosie (soul, African, jazz), Amber Gomaa (modern pop), Tommy Moustache (instrumental jazz-rock), Flip Noorman (alternative/eclectic songwriter), Baer Traa (pop, Americana, soul), the Steeplepoys Revanger (avant-garde/modern jazz-rock) and many more. With these and other bands he has performed all over the world; live performance has always been a large part of his musical career.
Jorn has been writing music since he first picked up a guitar. After his studies at the conservatory he began composing for his band Tommy Moustache: a progressive instrumental jazz-rock group that combines various styles but keeps an audience-friendly levity, due to a touch of humor in the music and often surrealistic presentation.
As opposed to the highly energetic music he writes for Tommy Moustache, he recently composed and recorded a semi-acoustic solo guitar album with a cinematic yet raw touch. For more information about this project please go to soloproject.
Aside from these projects, Jorn also co-writes music with other artists and has been involved in composing, arranging and recording music for several films and documentaries. Go to work for the full portfolio.
Jorn is available as an arranger, composer or studio musician for various music projects. Please contact him with any enquiries.
